August Book Club: Hunchback by Saou Ichikawa
This month’s Pickles Book Club pick is Hunchback by Saou Ichikawa. This book is a slender, stunning novella at just under 100 pages, it’s the kind of book you can finish in one sitting… and then spend days thinking about. Ichikawa’s writing is delicate yet piercing, weaving loneliness, longing, and fleeting human connection into a story that feels both intimate and universal.
We’re meeting Thursday, August 28th, 2025 from 6–8 PM at Bouquet — 1073 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11222.
Food and bev will be available for purchase on site (yes, the wine is as good as the books).
This month’s craft? TBD… but you already know it’s gonna be cute.
Because we’re not just a book club, we’re the only book club that crafts. Come read with us, drink with us, make things with us, and maybe shed some thug tears with us too.
